Celebrating our 1 year anniversary on the beautiful island of Eleuthera.
Eleuthera [ih-loo-ther-uh] sits on the eastern side of the Bahamas, just an hour plane ride from Fort Lauderdale. It’s a long, thin island known for its pink sand beach and secluded coves. The island is lined with the deep blue Atlantic Ocean on the east and shallow torquoise water on the west.
We chose to celebrate our 1 year anniversary on this beautiful island for two reasons:
1. It is very close to home which meant little travel time. We were only able to take several days off work, therefore we tried our best to waste as little time on a plane as possible. We have our “part two” anniversary trip planned in May and it’s a little farther from home. (Very excited for that!)
2. We found a beautiful hotel called ‘The Cove’ that gave us similar vibes to the hotel we stayed at on our honeymoon. We wanted a less adventurous trip for our anniversary so that we could relax to the max! The Cove was perfect for that! (Although, we still went on two mini adventures that you will see and read about below!)
We spent most of our time lying on the beach sipping piña coladas and getting bad tan lines. Well, maybe that was just me… but it’s a price I’m willing to paying to wear cute swimsuits! They also had paddle boards and canoes that you can use free of charge. The water was perfectly calm so paddle boarding was one of our favorite activities. (That’s aside from sipping piña coladas.)
the Sunsets
The sunsets here were so magical! We would begin the sunset observation process in the infinity pool, quickly run to the room to change, and then have a glass of wine at the bar which overlooked the horizon.
Queens Baths
Queens baths is a cluster of natural pools on the east side of the island. The pools get filled by the waves which come in off the Atlantic. Being that the pools are shallow, they warm up from the sun creating bath-like temperatures. It was one of the coolest experiences and we highly recommend it if you’re ever visiting North Eleuthera!
Harbour Island
We took a short trip to Harbour Island on our last full day. It’s a small island just off the coast of Eleuthera known for its pink sand beaches. We took a 5 minute water taxi to get there and rented a golf cart once we arrived. Golf carts are their primary mode of transportation as the roads are narrow and crowded. We primarily went for the pink sand beaches but there’s also several cute hotels to visit where you can enjoy lunch overlooking the beautiful beach.
Here’s a short glimpse of Eleuthera…
Big thanks to my sweet husband for making me this video 🖤
