house to home
Like most Florida houses, ours was definitely a fixer upper. We completely gutted the place and renovated pretty much everything. The only things we kept were a couple of the walls. The good thing about that was that we were able to make it exactly how we wanted. Here a couple of before and after photos of our kitchen and living room.
before – after
There was a wall here that closed off the kitchen from the living room. We tore it down and put a big island for extra counter space and storage. Plus, it really opened up the space and made it look a lot bigger. We spend a lot of time in the kitchen and living room so it was important for us to make them feel as cozy and functional as possible.
To create the built-in shelves look we built out a half wall in the middle (that we placed the TV on) and inserted a faux fireplace underneath which was custom made (by Eurofloors) out of stone. Though the fireplace isn’t real, it still adds so much warmth and coziness to the room.
