The natural makeup look I do on a day to day basis.
On a day to day basis, I go for a more natural makeup look. I put my main focus on my base/skin which is why I try to use clean makeup that won’t irritate or clog my skin. It took me a while to find a good everyday foundation so I really wanted to share it with you guys! It does a good job of evening my skin tone, covering any blemishes/scars, and still looking natural.
Step 1:
Primer – Smashbox Photo Finish Primerizer
After I apply my skincare and moisturizer, I prep my skin with a hydrating primer. Skin prep is the most important step in achieving a healthy and glowy base. If my skin isn’t hydrated, I find that my makeup looks uneven and cakey. I also apply a lip balm at this point to hydrate my lips. One of my favorites is the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask.
Step 2:
Brows – E.l.f. Eyebrow Enhancer & E.l.f. Lash and Brow Mascara Crystal
shade – taupe
While I let the primer sink in, I quickly fill in my brows. My eyebrows are naturally on the the thicker side so I don’t mind using a thicker pencil to fill them in. I also feel that using a thick pencil makes the process so much faster. I fill in my brows every single day which means that I go through brow products really fast. So the fact that the E.l.f brown products are each $2 makes my heart sing!
I start by filling in any sparse areas toward the ends of my brows and then work my way backwards. The closer I get to the beginning of my brows, the less product I use. Then I brush through with the spoolie to make sure there are no harsh lines and set them with the Lash and Brow Mascara. I use upward strokes to make them look more feathery.
Step 3:
Foundation- Clinique Even Better Makeup
shade – buff
On a daily basis, I like to use a light foundation that contains healthy ingredients that will benefit my skin. The Clinique Even Better Makeup foundation contains SPF 15, Vitamin C, and antioxidants which all work to improve your skin. The Vitamin C and antioxidants help diminish discoloration, age spots, and acne scaring!
I apply it with an EcoTools Foundation Brush and then go over with a (wet) Real Techniques Sponge in a tapping circular motion to make sure it’s evenly blended.
Step 4:
Concealer – TOO FACED Born This Way Super Coverage Multi-Use Sculpting Concealer
shade – porcelain
I switch between this and the Tarte Shape Tape but recently I’ve been reaching for this one more. I apply it to my under eyes and any blemishes or scares that didn’t get covered by the foundation. TIP: When applying to under eyes, place the majority of the product underneath your “problem area.” For example, I have several fine lines right under my eye that tend to make the concealer crease. I apply my concealer below those fine lines and as I blend with the sponge, I gradually bring a light amount of product upward; just enough to even out the skin tone. Applying a heavy amount of product to fine lines will encourage creasing and will make the area look cakey.
I always set my concealer with a powder (Charlotte Tilbury – Airbrush Flawless Finish Setting Powder or Laura Mercir – Translucent Loose Setting Powder) focusing on my “problem area” to prevent creasing. I try not to bringing the powder too low in order to keep the rest of my skin looking glowy.
Step 5:
Bronzer – Soleil Tan De Chanel
I prefer to use a cream bronzer because I feel that it blends very well and looks natural. I’ve been using this cream bronzer since my wedding and I can’t use anything else since. It goes on so natural but is also very buildable for a more dramatic and chiseled look.
A little at a time, apply to high points where the sun would naturally hit – Cheek bones, forehead, and nose. I apply the remaining product to the lids instead of eyeshadow.
TIP: When applying to cheeks, make sure to apply directly on the bone. Applying the bronzer on the cheek bone will lift your cheeks and give the look of a natural tan. Also, start off with a light hand and build from there to avoid a muddy look.
I love blush and highlighter but I’m going to be honest, I don’t use them everyday. They’re extra steps that I am willing to skip when I’m in a rush. When I do use them, I use the Chanel – Rose Bronze or Becca – Wild Honey blush and the Becca – Moonstone highlighter. Apply blush on apples of cheeks and then to the bridge of nose with the remaining product (it makes you look sun kissed!) Apply highlighter to high points (cheek bone, bridge of nose, inner eye, and brow bone.)
Step 6:
Mascara – Stila Huge Extreme Lash Mascara
I love the look of long voluminous lashes. This mascara both lengthens and adds volume to your lashes, which really opens the eyes. The formula is also very long lasting and doesn’t flake on me.
Start at roots and wiggle the brush out. I apply at least 2-3 layers to each eye.
Step 7:
Lips – e.l.f. Matte Lip Color
shade – natural
I prefer a lip balm over a lipstick on a day to day basis. Although, if I use any color I tend to go with a natural shade and apply it over lip balm. This Elf lip color is almost the exact same color as my natural lips, so I love it for everyday.
