Best Day Ever!!!
Our wedding day was seriously one of the best days ever!(I know everyone says that but ours really was.) We had so much fun! Which, unfortunately, meant the day passed by SO fast! Everyone warned us about that and they were right! One of my favorite parts of our wedding was our first kiss as husband and wife.🖤 I know what you’re thinking, cheesy!! But…it was my favorite not only because, well, I got to kiss my handsome man but also because we had confetti! The confetti went off during the kiss which created such a magical moment. (Magical moment pictured above^)
While planning our wedding, I quickly realized how easy it was to want to go in too many directions(style wise). So I decided to create a concept mood board that I could show to all my vendors. This helped them better understand and visualize the look I was going for and it helped me stick to one cohesive look.
I highly recommend doing this if you’re planning a wedding!
Here is an example of the one I made. I included:
-A couple of words that I felt described what I was envisioning our wedding to feel like.
-Our wedding colors (I, personally, am not very much into colors so we went for a neutral pallet.)
-Pictures that inspired our flower arrangements, invitation suite, and location.
Though it was a lot of work, we were so happy with how everything turned out! We are extremely grateful to everyone who participated in making our wedding day what it was. Scroll down to see more!
getting ready…
I chose to do my own hair and makeup and I’m so glad I did! Not only was I able to be done with hair and makeup in 1 hour, but I was also able to make sure I felt comfortable with the way I looked on one of the most special days of my life.
For my makeup, I went for a natural/bronzy/glowy look. Something that made me feel glam but still comfortable. I wanted to look like a better version of myself. I put most of the focus on the eyes with a subtle smoky eye and black eyeliner to make my eyes pop. I also had semi-permanent lash extensions which were amazing for the honeymoon! No raccoon eyes and you wake up looking like an effortless goddess;)
For hair, I surprisingly did a low up do for the ceremony (something I never! thought I would do.) I don’t usually put my hair up so this was a little bit out of my comfort zone. On a day to day basis, I wear my hair down with loose curls so I wanted something that was a little different. Plus, I had a cape with my first look so I wanted that to stand out, as well as the low-cut back of the dress. After the ceremony, I pulled my hair down for our second round of bride&groom portraits. Surprisingly, my curls held up perfectly and I was able to get some shots with my hair down.
our first look!
One of the moments I was looking forward to the most that morning was our fist look! I couldn’t wait to see my handsome groom and finally say I do! I think thats one of the reasons I got ready so fast. haha
my dress…
I always pictured myself wearing a mermaid style dress on my wedding day; never did I think that I would get a ball gown! I went to several different stores when I was shopping for my wedding dress and found myself having a hard time finding anything I liked. I had a very specific style in mind which made it somewhat difficult. I knew I wanted a high neck, long sleeve lace top with a satin like mermaid bottom. But, something would always be off with anything I tried on. Either the lace was too busy or the skirt was the wrong material. After months of searching, I honestly gave up… until… I was browsing through the catalog while I was waiting for the lady to pull out any mermaid style dresses they had when I saw this gorgeous, ginormous, totally not what I was looking for dress. I asked the lady if I could try it on for kicks and giggles and, well… I fell in love.
I still had the mermaid style dress on my heart so we cut the original dress and essentially made it into 2 dresses. The original skirt was made into an over-skirt and the original top was attached to a custom-made mermaid skirt. The main reason I wanted to do this was because we did a first look before the ceremony but I still wanted there to be an element of surprise for my husband when I walked down the aisle. In the end, it worked out better than I could have dreamed.
