A little piece of paradise.
Tulum sits about an hour south of Cancun, Mexico. Well known for its beautiful white sandy beaches and relaxing vibes, it made for an amazing honeymoon destination. When we were brainstorming where to go on our honeymoon, our top two requirements were for it to be relaxing and luxurious. We didn’t care where we went as much as we cared that the place we stayed at felt like a little piece of paradise. Hotel Esencia was just that.
The boutique hotel lies between lush jungle and the secluded beach of Xpu-Ha [sh’pu ha]. Each of the 40 rooms have their own private entrances which connect to little pathways leading to the beach. The property is set around a while villa that was originally built as a private vacation home for an Italian duchess.
The rooms are minimally decorated with white interiors and organic finishes. Our room also had a private plunge pool surrounded by jungle creating the most quiet and relaxing vibe.
We never had a bad meal! The food and drinks were so delicious and decadent. Breakfast was brought to the room every morning along with coffee and tea. For lunch, we would order the obligatory chips and guacamole (so so good!) along with either tacos or sandwiches. For dinner we would either go to the restaurant, Mistura, or participate in the fun BBQ’s on the weekends.
We would spend hours on the beach just relaxing, reading books from the hotel library, and swimming/paddle boarding in the ocean. The hotel provided complimentary scuba gear, paddle boards, and lounge chairs with umbrellas.
We dream of going back one day!
