A glimpse of our stay at Borgo Pignano in the beautiful countryside of Tuscany.
My husband and I recently got back from our two and half week trip to Europe and I am so excited to share some of it with you guys! I know, two and a half weeks doesn’t seem like much but for us it felt like just enough! (Maybe that’s just the homebody in me talking.) I also think one of the reasons why it felt so long was because we did so much! We visited over 12 cities/towns in-between London, Italy, and Southern France. (Some include: Notting Hill, Florence, Volterra, San Gimignano, Nice, Monaco, St. Tropes, St. Remy, Lourmarin, and more). I dreamt of this trip since before we got married (specifically the Tuscan country side and Southern France) and I feel so lucky and blessed that we got to experience it together.
The first place we booked was Borgo Pignano, so our whole trip was planned around it. I fell in love with this place the moment I saw it. Borgo Pignano is a restored country estate from the Etruscan era. It has been restored and renovated into a beautiful and charming hotel surrounded by hundreds of acres of luscious land filled with vegetable gardens, olive groves, vineyards, and so much more! Most of the produce and products at Borgo Pignano are grown and made on the property from their cold pressed olive oil to the soaps and shampoos found in each room.
The estate was filled with the most beautiful plants and flowers. Anywhere you’d looked, you could find a different type of rose bush, herb, or citrus tree. After exploring and admiring the property, we’d cool off with a dip in the pool and a delicious meal on the terrace. And then repeat.
Borgo Pignano sits between two old towns – Volterra and San Gimignano. Both were about a 20-30 min drive from the estate. We visited both towns on two separate days and we’d recommend it especially if you want to do a little bit of shopping. We bought a straw bag, some wooden spoons, a couple of gifts for our families, and hand crafted knives. We also had some of the best gelato at a little shop called L’isola del Gusto Gelateria. Their hazelnut gelato was to die for!

After exploring, we’d hurry back to the estate for dinner and the sunset. Both never ceased to amaze us.
Aside from the amazing food and great views, Borgo Pignano also offered many activities such as cooking classes, horseback riding tours, wine tastings, and more. (One piece of advice: book the activities ahead of time because they do fill up!) We were able to get into the pasta making class and horseback riding tour: the two activities we were most excited for.
We dream of going back someday..
